Bahu Begum ka Maqbara

Popularly known as the ‘Taj Mahal of East’, the mausoleum of Queen Unmatuzzohra Bano, wife of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula, is located in the town Faizabad. Being popular tourist attraction for visitors, it has crowded streets and busy market place. It is the tallest monument in Faizabad and is famous for its non-Mughal architectural brilliance. A wonderful example of Awadhi architecture, the Bahu Begum ka Maqbara has three domes intricately designed interiors and marvelously crafted walls and ceilings. The complex has been beautifully managed as a beautiful garden with fountain and lush green lawn divided into segments by walking paths. Today the premises are protected site under ASI and the place is an outstanding tourist site.
